We are committed to promoting sustainable waste management through reduction, reuse, recycling, and composting.
We educate and empower communities, businesses, and government agencies by providing resources, advocacy, and networking opportunities. Through workshops, public outreach, and industry collaboration, we help create cleaner, greener communities while supporting economic and environmental sustainability across Alabama.

Yes! Many cities and counties have strong recycling programs, bolstered by a robust state grant program and a clear state recycling goal. The Alabama Recycling Coalition works to expand and improve these efforts through education and advocacy.
Recyclables collected in Alabama are processed at materials recovery facilities (MRFs), where they are sorted and prepared for sale to manufacturers across Alabama and the Region to be made into new products.

For example, aluminum cans can be endlessly recycled, plastic bottles become new containers or textiles, and cardboard is turned into new packaging. The more we recycle correctly, the more valuable materials are available for manufacturing.
